Byzantine Art I selected the mosaic of Christ in the church called the Hagia Sophia. I chose this piece of artwork because I like the detail of the mosaic. Inside the church, it contains many gold mosaics, liturgical furnishings, and expensive marbles. Although the date of this mosaic is unknown, scholars think that it is from around 1185-1204BC.
